The Collaborative Mural Painting James Concagh

About the Mural Project
The mural project was initially based on my thesis about the artist David Smith. In 1962 Smith collaborated with some factory workers in Voltri, Italy to make iron sculptures from abandoned machinery. The idea of making a mural had already been in my head since making the series " Urbano" and "Rastro" from 2004-2006. This was why I chose the name "Rastro Urbano" . I wanted to try to work with some of the elements from the series on a public mural. Like Smith, I wanted to turn the experience into a collective one.
As I had already worked with CPTM and Metrô SP on previous projects I approached them about making a mural at one of their railway stations. CPTM finally allowed me to use one of the wings at Dom Bosco. On my request they selected six workers from each of the stations along the Luz- Guaianases railway line to work with me.
